Pressure Ulcer Care
Pressure ulcer care should be immediately
administered if the formation of pressure ulcers becomes evident.
A pressure ulcer should never get to serious and severe stages while
under the care of a nursing home, however it has been found that
one in three nursing homes have reported instances of abuses, including
the failure to prevent pressure ulcers or give adequate pressure
ulcer care. Reports show instances of suffering that has led to
such severe pressure ulcers that the pressure ulcer care in order
to begin healing required surgery and intensive measures.
There are various options for pressure ulcer care
that must include the immediate removal of pressure from the affected
area(s). A doctor should evaluate the elder to determine what type
of pressure ulcer care will be needed that may involve medication,
dressings, and surgery. The best way to avoid pressure ulcer care
from being needed is to make sure close attention and care is being
given to your loved one.
