"Meth Lab Run Out of Michigan Nursing Home"

November 9 , 2005
Police in Michigan are looking for an employee of The Laurels nursing home in Coldwater. The police suspect the employee of running a methamphetamine lab both at the nursing home and at his own place of residence. The unnamed suspect worked at the nursing home's skilled nursing and rehabilitation center for senior citizens.

Meth Lab equipment was discovered in a storage facility at the home after police found meth-making equipment in the man's home. The police went to the facility to look for the man and then discovered his hidden laboratory materials at the nursing home.

Five children at the suspect's home were placed into protective custody.

Many people see this particular case as being especially serious because of where the meth manufacturing was taking place. According to the US Department of Justice some 15 percent of meth labs cause serious fires and explosions. Chemicals that are incompatible are often stored together in faulty or improperly sealed containers. Explosions caused by meth labs are one of the most common ways law enforcement detects meth manufacturers.
