Settlement Reached in Nursing Home Case

A settlement was recently reached in Waterbury, CT, involving a wrongful death case that was blamed on nursing home negligence.
The jury granted the plaintiffs $2.5 million in the settlement.
Patient Given Wrong Meal
Amel Trezza, was 93 when he died at the Country Manor Healthcare Center for being given the wrong type of food.
A nurse reportedly gave Trezza, who was blind, food that was meant for a patient on a regular diet.
However, Trezza was only supposed to be given soft food that was put through a food processor, which made it easier for him to swallow.
The nurse allegedly gave Trezza the wrong meal then moved on to other rooms to help other patients, leaving the elderly man to choke to death in his room.
Suit Claims Negligence
The nurse was accused of being negligent for failing to give the patient the proper food.
The case was recently tired in Waterbury Superior Court.
The family of the diseased man was reportedly awarded over $2 million.
