Utah Nursing Home Abuser to Get Mental Health Exam"
Jesus Partida, a man accused of sexually molesting at least ten elderly women at an American Fork, Utah nursing home, has been charged and ordered to undergo a mental competency examination.
The 33-year-old Partida has been charged with four counts of forcible sodomy and eleven counts of forcible sexual abuse. Both charges against him are penalties. Partida worked at the nursing home, the Heritage Care Center in American Fork, for almost two years from June 2003 to February 2005. He had turned himself into authorities.
Eight of ten of his victims have already passed away. The remaining two are still in residence at the Heritage Care Center.
Eight of the ten victims have passed away. The other two victims are still at the center.
Police and investigators said that all of the victims had either dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Partida apparently went from room to room abusing the victims multiple times because they didn't seem to know what was happening, according to his affidavit and official reports.
Director Steven Fraser has stated that Partida passed all of the background checks required by Utah's nursing home employees. In addition, he said, the center had a private firm conduct a background check as well. Partida was a registered certified nursing assistant.
