Visitor of Nursing Home Charged with Abuse
September 18, 2007
A man who was recently visiting a nursing home in Ohio has been charged with sexually abusing a handicapped resident.
After running a thorough investigation of the case, state health investigators concluded that a visitor had sexually abused a frail resident of the home.
Case Under Investigation
The Ohio Department of Health investigators discovered that the abuse had taken place after visiting The Woodlands at Robinson facility in August.
According to reports, a man visiting the home sexually abused the woman while she was in her room.
Investigators reported that the woman has trouble moving her arms and legs and is oftentimes forgetful.
“This is one of the worst things that could ever happen,” says Maureen Fredrick, the Portage County Commissioner.
County Looks to Improve Facility
According to Frederick, the county is now looking into ways that they can improve the Woodlands facility.
The health department also recommended that the facility be fined up to $4,250 a day and the Medicare and Medicaid funding be cut off for new patients until the case is closed.
