"Wisconsin nursing home funding faces deficits"
The Wisconsin State Senate failed to override Gov. Jim Doyle's veto yesterday, keeping educational funding in tact. The final 20-13 vote was two votes shy of passing the resolution authored by State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf, R-River Falls.
Harsdorf said she was disappointed with the veto in a released statement, saying it eliminated a 1.4 percent increase in nursing home funding. According to Harsdorf, "Nursing homes are already facing deficits, and many providers in our rural communities are struggling to survive."
